The team behind JCG Fieldsports has been lucky enough to live in the countryside all their lives. We are passionate about preserving our native wildlife and enjoying the great outdoors. Fieldsports have always been a part of that but we feel game shooting needs to change and for the industry to survive we must return to more sustainable practices and ensure game shot is recognised as a healthy natural food.
Hence our shoot school... we want to give individuals the opportunity to educate themselves on the history of the industry and the etiquette of the sport.
Join us for a weekend where we learn about the typical quarry shot in the UK, how to safely handle and fire a shotgun, how to drive birds to standing guns, how to pick up with trained gundogs and how to prepare and cook wild game, all whilst in a safe welcoming environment with novice guns.
We propose that you will arrive on a Thursday evening to meet everyone at a welcoming dinner. On the Friday morning, you will receive a briefing of gamesport history and a demonstration from a gundog handler. After lunch you will learn how to handle a shotgun safely and participate in a clay pigeon shooting lesson.
On Saturday, you will experience all aspects of a shoot day rotating between beating, picking up and the opportunity to shoot three drives. We will then return to base to prepare and cook our game before enjoying dinner and farewell drinks.
After Sunday morning breakfast rolls you will head home with your oven ready game and recipe cards.
Note - whilst shooting you will be accompanied by a trained loader and the use of a shotgun and ammunition is provided.
Our first dates are in November 2022 - please register your interest below and we will be in touch with an all inclusive price.
